Based in Tasmania, Carey focuses on the coaching of individuals and the training and facilitation of teams, primarily in the education sector. He has extensive experience as an educational leader in State and Catholic education. In a long and successful career with the Department of Education he served as a Senior Secondary College Principal, District Superintendent and Director of School Leadership Development. In more recent years he was employed as a Regional Director with Catholic Education Tasmania.

These diverse roles have provided him with numerous opportunities to exercise leadership and facilitate change. He is passionate about, and dedicated to, solutions focused approaches and the building of leadership capacity. A hallmark of Carey’s leadership is the high degree of emotional intelligence that he brings to his work. He has designed and facilitated numerous workshops on leadership and coaching in the education sector.

Recent work includes: Working with the PLI to provide coaching to new Tasmanian Principals, Coaching of CAP Phase 4 participants; Facilitation of Reflective Practice sessions for members of Growth Coaching International’s coaching team; Assessment of CAP Phase 4 assignments and workshop facilitation.

Carey is an Accredited Coach (Growth Coaching International); Advanced Training Cognitive Coaching; Member of the Institute of Coaching (IOC); Fellow Australian Council of Educational Leaders; Genos Emotional Intelligence Practitioner; Diploma of Pastoral Ministry (Archdiocese of Hobart Pastoral Planning and Formation Centre); and Accredited Spiritual Director (Emmanuel Pastoral and Spirituality Centre).
